Stationary Engineer Organizer

Based in the Houston, TX area

 

International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 564 is an organizing-focused, member-driven, labor union representing Members throughout Texas.

We are looking for a Stationary Engineer Organizer.

This position is responsible for:

• Organizing workers in the Houston, TX area.
• Conducting one-on-one in-person visits, site visits, phone and web-based conversations, meetings, and other interactions with workers.
• Attending regular meetings with supervisors and teams to discuss progress, plan activities, and connect with colleagues on the campaign
• Entering assessments and other relevant data on a regular basis
• Taking direction and incorporating feedback on work activities to accomplish goals

Preferred qualifications upon start:

• Previous labor organizing experience.
• Need to be in the Houston, TX area
• Committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Communication skills both verbal and written
• Competency in basic computer/web functions.
• Ability to work independently
• Willingness to potentially work long and irregular hours
• Ability to commute to and from work sites in the greater Houston area with a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle
• Be motivated, responsible, organized, professional, and detail-oriented
